A topological characterisation of holomorphic parabolic germs in the plane

In [GP], Gambaudo and Pécou introduced the “linking property” to study the dynamics of germs of planar homeomorphims and provide a new proof of Naishul theorem. In this paper we prove that the negation of Gambaudo-Pécou property characterises the topological dynamics of holomorphic parabolic germs. As a consequence, a rotation set for germs of surface homeomorphisms around a fixed point can be ...

Recognition of Plane Projective Symmetry

A novel approach to grouping symmetrical planar curves under a projective transform is described. Symmetric curves are important as a generic model for object recognition where an object class is defined by the set of symmetries that any object in the class obeys. In this paper, a new algorithm is presented for grouping curves based on their correspondence under a plane projectivity. The corres...

Plane 1 Plane 2 Plane 1 Plane

This paper introduces a Relative Mapping Algorithm. This algorithm presents a new way of looking at the SLAM problem that does not use Probability, Iterative Closest Point, or Scan Matching techniques. A map of landmarks is generated by using the average relative location difference between landmarks. This means the algorithm does not use any known, estimated or predicted movement or position d...

Cutting Plane MAP Inference for Markov Logic

In this work we present Cutting Plane Inference (CPI) for MAP inference in Markov Logic. CPI incrementally solves partial Ground Markov Networks, adding formulae only if they are violated in the current solution. We show dramatic improvements in terms of e ciency, and discuss scenarios where CPI is likely to be fast.

On the area of the graph of a singular map from the plane to the plane taking three values

We improve an estimate given by Acerbi and Dal Maso in 1994, concerning the area of the graph of a singular map from the disk of R into R, taking only three values, and jumping on three half-lines meeting at the origin in a triple junction.
